Definition

CPM (Cost Per Mille) is the price you pay per 1,000 ad impressions. It is the standard buying unit for awareness and reach campaigns.

Formula

CPM = (Total Cost / Impressions) x 1,000

Example

You spend $500 and receive 200,000 impressions. CPM = ($500 / 200,000) x 1,000 = $2.50.
